The short version. You can read this entire site without an account. We do not ask for health information and we do not want it. What you type into a calculator or the symptom search stays in your browser. Our advertising partners set cookies — that is the main privacy consideration here, and you can control it.

1. Who we are

PocketsInfo (https://pocketsinfo.com) publishes general health information. For data-protection purposes, the operator of this site is the data controller. Contact: privacy@pocketsinfo.com.

2. Information we collect

a. Information you give us

  • Newsletter signup — your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Emails to us — whatever you include when you write to us, kept only as long as needed to deal with it.

We do not have user accounts and we never ask you to tell us about your health.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Server and analytics data — pages requested, approximate location derived from IP, referring site, device and browser type, and timestamps. This is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful.
  • Advertising data — collected by our advertising partners through cookies and similar technologies. See section 5.

c. Information that never reaches us

This matters on a health site, so we want to be explicit. Our calculators and symptom search run entirely in your browser. The heights, weights, dates and symptoms you enter are not transmitted to our servers, not stored, and not shared with anyone.

4. What we never do

  • Sell your personal information.
  • Ask for, store or infer health conditions and attach them to you.
  • Build advertising profiles ourselves or share an email list with advertisers.

5. Advertising and third-party cookies

This site is funded by advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or the NAI opt-out page.

Where required by law, advertising and analytics cookies are set only after you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Full detail is in our cookie policy.

6. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help run the site:

  • Hosting and content delivery — to serve pages
  • Analytics — to measure usage in aggregate
  • Advertising partners — as described above
  • Email delivery — to send the newsletter you asked for

We may also disclose information where legally required. These providers may process data outside your country; where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Retention

  • Newsletter email — until you unsubscribe
  • Correspondence — up to 24 months
  • Server logs — typically up to 12 months
  • Advertising and analytics cookies — per the lifetimes listed in the cookie policy

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to portability, and to withdraw consent. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may also have rights of access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@pocketsinfo.com. We respond within 3 working days and in any case within the period required by law. If you are in the EU/UK you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

9. Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with data, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and will revise the review date above. Material changes will be announced on the site.
